The Registration of practitioners of Ayurvedic and Unani systems started first time in 1967 vide Jammu and Kashmir Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine act of 1959 and Jammu and Kashmir Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine rules of 1965. After the constitution of First Board in J&K, the board was dissolved and remained non-functional up to 14 years which had a setback to this organization to be flourished. The existing board has been functioning since 10-09-1997and election of Board is overdue. Now the Govt. has been appointed Administrator Dr. Shokat Hussain Yatoo for the smooth functioning of the Board.
